Work you are suited for, and the people who have done it
Aptly is a career-matching platform built in Denver, Colorado. It takes what is true about you, your interests, values, personality and reasoning strengths from four short assessments, plus your education, experience and skills, and scores more than 13,000 careers against it. It explains why each one fits, shows what the job pays where you live, lays out the path to get there, and finds openings that are hiring right now, read directly from employers' own career pages.
Why we built it
Aptly was started in 2026 by Zack Flanagan, a healthcare and medical-device sales leader who spent fifteen years building and coaching sales teams, and who, like most people, chose a career by accident and then found out what he was good at the hard way. The job sites answer "what is open?" Nobody was answering "what am I built for, and how do I get from here to there?" Aptly is that answer. It is based on real data, not guesswork, so you get real results that matter to you.
What we believe
- The tests are for you, not for employers. Your answers and results are never shown to an employer. Employers see a "Qualified" score worked out from your background if you choose to share it; when you apply to a job posted on Aptly you can also choose to share your Satisfaction and Longevity scores (never the Emotional reactivity part). You can change either choice at any time.
- Show the reasons. Every match and every job comes with the why: which interests, which skills, which gaps, so you can disagree with it.
- Honest about pay. Pay figures come from government data for your state, with the range, not a single cheerful number.
- Free should be useful. The assessments, matches, Path plans, job search and Career Plan are free. Paid plans add the AI Career Coach, application tools and, after you are hired, Aptly Career.
- The search ends; the career does not. Aptly Career, mentors who have walked your path, and alumni groups in your field keep working after the offer.
Who uses Aptly
Job seekers and career changers; students and recent graduates; service members leaving the military; career coaches and outplacement firms working with clients; colleges, school districts and workforce programs; and employers who want candidates whose background fits the job.
Where the data comes from
Aptly's career information (what each job involves, the skills and education it takes, what it pays where you live and how the work is changing) is built from U.S. government labor-market data: O*NET (U.S. Department of Labor), the Bureau of Labor Statistics (pay, job outlook and the Occupational Outlook Handbook), Registered Apprenticeship and training-program data from the Department of Labor, and the National Center for Education Statistics. Your four assessments use research-based question sets, and Aptly's own matching model combines your results with your background to score every career for you. Job openings come from employers' own career sites and job boards across the country, checked for scams and stale postings before you see them.
