A day in the work

A mechanical drafter's week typically involves reviewing engineering sketches and specifications, then translating them into precise CAD drawings. Tasks include adding dimensions, noting material requirements, specifying fastening methods, and ensuring drawings meet industry standards. Drafters communicate with engineers and designers to clarify details, make revisions based on feedback, and prepare drawings for production teams or clients. Much of the work happens at a computer workstation.
