A day in the work
A typical week involves planning lessons tailored to individual education plans (IEPs), delivering direct instruction in academic and life skills, and managing classroom behavior. Teachers assess student progress regularly, communicate with parents about their child's development, collaborate with other staff members, and document student achievements. Time is split between whole-group activities, small-group instruction, and one-on-one support depending on student needs.
Who this work suits
You do well in this work if you're patient with repetition and can break complex skills into smaller steps. You're organized enough to manage multiple individualized plans and flexible enough to adjust your approach when something isn't working for a particular student.
